The king and his family were trapped in the royal apartments at versailles. A mob broke down the doors, but marie antoinette was able to get them open. The queen's life could have been on the line if she hadn't gotten help from lafayette. Lafayette agreed to a one-on-one meeting with the king so that he could tell him what had happened.
