"I think one of the major problems that we've run into is that it's extremely hard to get ideas and arguments that you have in your own head into the heads of other people," he says. "We end up with this little problem of how do I get my ideas from my head into theirs?" He argues that big ideas, philosophy, theology come to us in about four different ways. The power of story isn't achieved by getting around people's intellect by hijacking their emotions through the imagination, he adds.
