Sowegoraovodai was at a civics day event in Paris. She captured the moment her recorder fritzed during an award ceremony. The students were taking photos on the state house ars to show off their work. They won several awards, including grassroots change and systemic impact prizes.

In most American schools, children *hear about* democracy, but don’t get to *practice* it. What would a more engaged brand of civics education look like?
