In honor of Halloween Month, we're going to talk about why we pronounce the E.D. the way we do in the word wicked and others like it. The suffix is just pronounced as a D, or T at the end of the last syllable of the word it gets suffixed to. But none of the adjectives we're talking about have a D or T sound before theE.D. So it's strange that their E.D.: suffix should be pronounced as a separate syllable.
