Hegel's Philosophy and the Romantic Movement

The romantic movement, especially in germany at the end of the eighteenth century, i has to figure as one of the major aspace counter enlightenment movements. One of its premises was that reason by itself cannot be considered a source of authority over us but there are other sources of authority such as beauty or nature and sentiment. Schopenhauer tremendously disliked some of the romantic impulses in the philosophy of the day. He felt it was moving philosophy, in particular, in the wrong direction.
