The Dark Night of the Spirit

The problem is we don't know how to move beyond the human senses, in particular our thoughts and our feelings, to that deeper level. So what John and Teresa would say is that God then takes us into the second dark night, what they called the dark night of the spirit. Now this is not just another season of dryness or darkness but more like a crisis of faith. We feel little to nothing of God's presence. It's Jesus lying on the cross, my God, my God,. why have you, what, forsaken me with?
