Why Should We Care About Theme?

Christopher Nolan is a phenomenally good director. He's done things that he's kind of done off on the sides of normal work with Batman and some other movies. I think it comes to knowing the medium that you're writing for at least once an episode hence the bingo card joke but knowing your medium can help you determine whether or not you need to be thinking about it too when you're writing a piece. You only have a limited amount of time in which to produce a movie so this works well for most right now. It really does provide clarity for what you're trying to achieve  in terms of what you're wanting to achieve.
