The History of the Witherspoons
In 1792, 93, and 94 there was listed for the first time another Witherspoon. The person's marked N E G, and he wasn't the only one who shared a last name with the landowner. This African-American Witherspoons owned cattle, and was listed as a householder. After 1794, presumably when the widow Ann would have needed help, there is no mention of the Negro Withersp Spoon.
