The Father Disciplines His Children

The father graciously disciplines those whom he loves. If God didn't love us, he'd leave us to our own devices. The only discipline that falls upon us comes from a place of love with an eye. But that discipline is an instrument for us to shake off our old sin and be more conformed to Christ. It's a means toward our everlasting good.
