Gawker.com connected with Robert Thomas, a student in Colorado who claimed he not only worked with Richard on the balloon hoax, but was now making a public offer to sell his story. Thomas claimed that he and Haney had a verbal agreement that if and when the reality show was accepted by ABC, Thomas would be one of his lead research assistants. Here's Haney's concept.
