The Demoralized Art of the Middle Ages
Great art requires great vision, a great positive view of the world, a great mission to be achieved. Great art is the art of the Renaissance of the 19th century. That's it. And in Greece and Rome. Even Rome is mostly second-handed in a sense. It's copying Greece. There are very few academies in the world. If they go to university to learn how to do it, they'll be told, stop it. Stop trying to represent reality. Just throw onto the canvas what you feel.
