Try and start with a positive note something generally about how they've been performing or something specific. If you want to propose something which is obviously quite a good way to finish that feedback you're saying look i think you should have done this and next time i would like it to be better. Spend some time shadowing a different team member for example, brush up on some of your skills in that area and then explain why you think it could have been better so those are some ways some phrases that you can use to start to give feedback again.
