The Importance of Hunger and Drought in Jesus' Descriptions

In Psalm 22 Jesus says he thirsts to show that he is fulfilling his purpose, according to the plan of God from the beginning. He definitely was saying, look, this was prophesied, I would be thirsty. And so his thirst, it was a physical thirst, yes, but it's not the only time that and in fact it's not even the first time that Jesus will use food and drink in really important symbolic ways. In our modern western societies may have forgotten what real hunger and real thirst is like because we turn on the tap and we're upset if the water is a little bit impure.
