Littlefield noticed that the doors to the boiler room in Webster's laboratory were suddenly bolted. He also heard some water running in the lab the night that Parkman disappeared, which he thought was unusual because it just doesn't happen very often. The furnace would have been big enough to fit some body parts inside with exposure to the fire to have destroyed.
