The city of pomore is known for its churches. The salt works have been in operation since the time that the thracians were there, and were operated to great profit by the ottomans during their time. There used to be more than forty churches on this little island al we didn't hear that story when we were there, but that certainly does explain why there were so many of em. And it sounds like not all of them even are in existence any moret so thereused to be more a lot of em are ruins now.
