The French President's China Visit
C.D. Belin: President Macron's visit to China was not a success internationally, if only for the fact that you had massive reactions across Europe against the interview he gave on the flights back from China. He doesn't think the French president believes he's speaking on behalf of Europe. It feels very much like the Russia mistake all over again but this time with China. The problem with the message is that it was poor timing given the military exercises that China launched the day after.
