There's this perception that owning a home leads to more financial stability. Matthew Desmond points out, he says home ownership doesn't lead to financial stability. You can usually buy a home only after you've done well for yourself or your parents have. He then goes on to say marriage works the same way. It tends to lock in the security of the already secure two parent family.
