The Role of Social Media Platforms in Reducing Outrage
Social media platforms are designed to deliver positive social feedback at unpredictable times. We know from research and psychology that delivering rewards unpredictably is a way to create habits. And so if you want to make any behavior, but in particular expressions of outrage more intentional and less knee jerky, then one way to target that might be to change the way that we get this feedback online.
