Gorgius's Rhetoric
Gorgius was the first order known to develop and teach a distinctive style of speaking. He believed that rhetoric is a technique, with which one could persuade an audience toward any course of action. After one pithian oration, he is said to have installed a solid gold statue of himself in the Temple of Apollo at Delphi. This if true would have been the first gold statue to be erected for a human among the ancient Greeks.
