Strength Training and the Interference Effect
A lot of studies fail to consider the differences in their subjects training levels. As more trained, concurrent training actually leads to smaller strength gains than when it's done by an untrained athlete. Another study looked at high intensity val training on the bike right after heavy strength training. And they both saw similar increases in strength and hypertrophy.
