I Think the Rate of Publication Is Way Too High in the Field of Machine Learning
The rate of publication is like, way too high in m. i think it's partly because the field itself has a set of incentives in place at this point that it's locked into. The short time line forces everyone to work on impremental ideasbeaus. If there was a way of resetting some of the incentives so that people felt comfortable and safe taking a more long turm view then i think you would get more interesting, off-the beaten path, paradine shifting ideas coming from research places.
