I think the moment you've got feeling pain like the experience of feeling pain, that's what i'm talking about. I have heard people entertain the idea that forces of attraction and forces of repulsion might correspond to something velence at the level of consciousness. It turns out that particles have some very simple velence in their consciousness. Should this be taken into account morally? Around here is where i strongly get the intuitions that different types of consciousness may matter morally to a very different extent. The kind we have with cognition and reflection may carry enormously more moral weight.
