The Value of Time in Friendship

I love this framing of thinking of thinking of bearing disappointments in friendship as true spiritual works of mercy. Because doing works of mercy takes time. It takes our energy, right? It takes an intentional commitment. And so I think one of the major things that we have to think about in terms of our friendships is the value of time. We can't sort of pretend that these relationships, even on the best of times, are going to flourish and persevere. They're just not because friendships don't exist in a virtual reality.
