Commercial Fusion Energy - Are We Still on That Trap?
If we're able to produce these fusion reactions at 10 times a second and capture that energy, we'll have a really great new scheme for a power plant. This laser is fundamentally built on pretty old technology. It's built on a 1980s laser architecture. We need to make the targets simpler and cheaper in order to be viable for commercial fusion energy. These are very complex targets and they're complex because we haven't been able to ignite them yet.
