In the fairy tales that Madame Dunois and her colleagues were writing, they had a lot of fairies and fairy godmothers within their tales. Abigail Fine says these writers were not only using fairygodmothers as stand-ins for themselves, but they were part of a larger culture war. There are very few women represented in classical ancient literature. Charles Perot was one of the few men who were doing literary fairy tales in the snow year at the time.
