Giuseppe Mazeria was the head of the Genovese crime family in New York. His former lieutenant, Akilu Jan, had betrayed his boss and organised the hit. He wanted to end the war and create a professional criminal empire. Some believe that Maseria was holding the death card at the very moment he was killed.
