Jihou is one of those African students who chose to go to China. He studied at Remin University in Beijing, one of the more prestigious universities in China. Now for most of last year, there was a growing sense of anxiety for a lot of African students who had started their degrees in China. But because of the zero COVID policies, they were blocked from returning. Those restrictions have now started to lift. And there is a palpable sense of relief from students from all over the world, but particularly from the global south that they're finally able to get back in to China to continue studies.
