Asynchronous Messaging in Distributed Systems

The way I've picked it up in the recent years is that I use it more and more. And then we might call it something like an event-driven architecture. But I wouldn't start with messaging. I would probably start with RPC remote procedure calls. That could be some web API project or whatever with controllers and everything.
