Orientalist ideas include the idea that the west is best, it is just superior to the east. And this is imbued with a number of qualities as a result,. which all contribute in a repeated reduction and a repeated homogenization over the third world  as being less advanced than the so called west. The naive assumption that their understanding of patriarchy and of gender base depression can just be applied anywhere else.
