The Concept of Intentionality in Psychology
Phenomenologists are interested in what they call the intentional object of the experience, the conscious state. The idea is that states of consciousness have a feature of aboutness to them. They're directed in a particular way. And it's that directeness that phenomenologists are trying to capture when they talk about intentionality.
