Human artists everywhere now write grants just saying, I can't tell you whether this is going to be a comedy or a tragedy yet because I haven't had the requisite emotions yet. And in fact, they have to know it in order to give the instructions. The artist discovers something about their inner life in the course of doing art. So they discover themselves in a way.
