Is There a Need for Sacred Doctrine?

The goal of sacred doctrine is not simply to understand the scriptures better, but it's to understand God better. And that mode of doing theology, I think some Protestant theologians do things in a different way than Catholic ones. So if we're using reason and we're understanding the principles of scripture, like we're gonna be able to define things more clearly over time.
