Growth SF is pivoting from just pure housing thing to more of a policing security focused thing. They claim that building new market rate housing will draw a bunch of rich people to a neighborhood and gentrify it. This does not explain why they block 100% subsidized affordable housing everywhere. There's no steel man of nimbyism other than to say, like, yes, America is a much higher crime place than Japan. If you densify, then whoever lives near density is going to have to deal with that more than they would in Japan.
