The Pros and Cons of Crawley's First Conviction
Bronx County Judge Stockwell, who decided to allow Crawley to walk free issued a statement by saying not a judge in the world could have foreseen that Crawley would later be involved in a crime such as that. Over 300 police officers attended Hershey's funeral on May 9th, 1931. The officers that received the reward for capturing Crawley gave the money to Hershey's widow.
