The Importance of Ivan's Indifference to His Victims
Ivan Neuigabauer was sentenced to seven life terms for the murders, plus an extra six years for the abduction of Paul Onions. In handing down his sentence, Justice David Hunt remarked that Ivan's indifference to his victim's suffering was "almost beyond belief" The different ways the backpackers were murdered also suggest that at least one more person was in the forest with Ivan.
