Are We Saying That G E Can't Manage a Finance Business?

An industrial conglomerate can be in the financing business. Walmot is looking to become a bank again. They could very well do a good job. But it's unfair to walmot, or g e, to say that industrial companies should not be in finance. What gives tiora certain unique kills and capabilities that allows them to be in the Financing business? We have no problem allowing banks to control unrelated financing businesses. A company like g does nothing because it has no skill. The wrong lessons being taken out of this that companies cannot be in Finance. And companies should be in finance if they have the right culture right processes and right management teams that understand how to manage it.
