The Daily Stoic

CHAPTER

Is It Memetic Desires That Lead to Happiness?

i suspect a large part of this is we realize at some, some fundamental level that we just got something that we didn't actually want to begin with. It wasn't our desire that was drawing us towards it. It was this memetic desire, you know, sort of kicked off by by people and forces we never really question totally. And i've had great models in my life of good husbands and good fathers, and i want to be infected by the desire to be more like those men. Ah, but so it's a matter like distinguishing between w what are the unhealthy mometic influences and what are the positive ones,. Then be more intentional about picking the models.
