The Importance of Small Talk

As a child, did you find that in some way your maturity level was sort of beyond your peer group or was there sort of not understanding the social cues? You mentioned everyone had a map for something you didn't have. It's very much about social cues because a lot of communication is not verbal. Small talk is hard for me as well.
