Lee Zet spoke with Yijer Mobijalva, who was 98 years old at the time of the fire. He remembers that he started to feel a lot of anguish and despair when he saw smoke rising from the base of the building up to the second floor where the radio station was. Some people didn't believe his requests for help because they thought it was all part of an elaborate show. Lee Zet: What do you think? Tell us in the comments below.

On a Saturday night, in February 1949, the music programming on one of the most popular radio stations in Quito, Ecuador, was interrupted with an urgent news bulletin: strange objects in the sky that looked like large disks with bright lights were using a powerful ray to destroy a nearby city. And they were heading right for Quito.
