How Much Do You Trust the Federal Government?
The number of Americans who trust the federal government to do what is right peaked at nearly 80% in 1961. By 2015, it had dropped to roughly 20%. The decline has not been linked to a pressing economic issue or catastrophe like Japan's 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster. 22% of Americans support their states' seceding from the U.S., compared with 78% back in 1776.
