When you are having long-term relationships and long-term sex with one person or even with multiple people, there can be a monotony to it. It isn't necessarily working for you all the time because it's kind of gotten old - which is actually OK. After a certain amount of time in a relationship, now the relationship has elements that are loaded. When you initiate sex and a partner says, no, thank you, it means something really different a couple of years in than it does early on.
