The kind of yogis we tested in the lab for the most part are yogis who actually travel quite a bit. When you look at someone like the Dalai Lama he travels nine months a year. He I think is a great exemplar of the kind of qualities we are talking about. For example addiction there is some addiction recovery programs that use meditation. PTSD there is some work using mindfulness to inoculate people who are going to go into a stressful situation. There was just a recent meta-analysis where they looked at therapies that include mindfulness or meditation and find that they seem to work as well for depression and anxiety as do medications for those conditions.
