The Risk-Free Rate Is the Straw That Stirs the Drink
The US exceptionalism that occurred in interest rate markets when the Federal Reserve was tightening rates from 2015 to 2018. The rest of the world, particularly the European Central Bank, were caught in a negative interest rate environment and couldn't get out of it. "I really do believe that the risk-free rate is kind of the straw that stirs the drink," he says.
