The Puritans Were Listening for Your Under Standing of the Law of God
In order to commune in the church, they would have to give a testimony of their salvation. The puritans looked for more of a process than an instantaneous of a pledge card or something like that. They were looking for the soul to begin to evidence some maturity. This comes out mostly when the puritans would go to their pastor or to their elders to try to gain permission to come to the lord's supper.
