The State of the Union Is Meant for National Security Wonks Like Us
One of the two leading arguments as to why the executive branch may not have to stick with Congress or require Congress to raise the debt ceiling is that some people are due. I don't know it just it bummed me out a little bit but again I don't think the state of the union is meant for national security wonks like us. There was actually a moving discussion of police violence and Tyree Nichols' mother and stepfather were in the audience which was quite a kind of a meaningful moment though of course it's not again clear what the big response will be.
