Google has more data than anyone, I think it's probably safe to say. But the other thing is Google also has all the data from all over the web because everyone wants to be in Google. And so Facebook was different because they control demand directly and could build up a data repository that one, Google couldn't touch; two, Facebook wasn't motivated to give to Google, they could keep it independent.
