The Importance of Feng Shui
Feng Shui was developed in part to help identify the best places for burials. The Chinese would send burial offerings ahead of the spirit and representations of earthly belongings might have been buried with them. Because Japan is an island nation, funeral processions often carry the deceased on cards shaped like a boat. Buried at sea, even if you're not technically around the sea.
