Sally Kohn: I think that in a lot of ways, this idea that tech is better left to the private sector is the result of laziness or disinvestment in technology on the part of many governments. She says it's not just about letting people do the work if they have the skills; it's also about giving them an opportunity to rise above and make their own decisions. Kohn: We see the tech industry is something that the public sector can't even really do that. It has to be something that has toDo with the private sector.

Paris Marx is joined by Mar Hicks to discuss why we need to know the history of tech and how the British history of sexism and colonialism in computing has lessons for the present-day US tech industry.
