In the early 16 hundred, german alchemist michael meyer moved to the court of emperor rudolph the second. He became rudolph's physician and counsellor and composer. This is one of 50 fugues he wrote. They were published in 16 17 in a book called atalanta fucians. And what do you listen to while brewing up a potion or two? Alchemical music, of course.
