The History of the Ridgeway
Wayland Smithey is one of the oldest monuments on the Ridgeway. The national trail ends at Avbury World Heritage Site. It's a route that would have been used by traders and people travelling perhaps on pilgrimage. People must have shared ideas, they might have shared expertise as well. To have those social relationships means that people must have been moving between the places to share that information or deliberate those ideas.
